AGREEMENT

Mutual assent between multiple legally-competent persons – ordinarily leading to a contract. In common usage, it is a broader term than contract (or bargain; or promise). This is because it includes – among other things: (a) executed sales; (b) gifts; (c) other transfers of property; and (d) non-legally-binding promises.

While agreement is often used as a synonym for contract, some authorities narrow it to mean only mutual assent.
